Let’s Start the Review Of Playstation 5
In their reveal event, they showed us some PlayStation 5 games as well. And now we know what the console looks like. Basically, there will be two variants of it. One will be with a disc drive, in which you can insert a Blu-ray Disc. And the other will be a Digital Edition, which will not have a disc drive, and this variant will definitely be lower in cost.
We don’t have any exact launch date at the moment, But Sony has revealed, that PlayStation 5 would be released in end 2020. which means it will be launched around October to December 2020 So, in today’s article we will talk about the console design of PlayStation 5, its accessories, some of its new specs and features.
Along with that, I will also show some gameplay footage. And further in the article we will talk about the expected price of it. So thats enough of an intro Let’s go on to the article. Let’s start the article with the design of the console. I mean just look it at. I think it looks really beautiful! But I was looking online that there are many mixed opinions about it many found it beautiful but others didn’t like it very much. Do let me know in the comment section, how do you think it looks? So, this time Sony has changed their design language for PlayStation 5.
In the past where PlayStation 4 was very boxy and squarish. Playstation 5 has a more curved design Along with this, the whole console was Black or had a single colour but this time it is Black and White. Here, in this image the console is standing vertically but you will also be able to lay it on its side. And as you can see, the Digital Edition has no Blu-Ray disc drive in it If we talk about the accessories, the main accessory of PlayStation 5 is it’s Dual Sense Controller.
They have changed it’s name previously it was Dual Shock now it’s Dual Sense and this controller will give you better Haptic feedback. Haptic Feedback are the vibrations that you feel on your controller while playing games. It vibrates when you shoot someone. That has been improved. Alongwith it, there will be adaptive triggers in the controller, a USB Type-C port, motion sensor, built-in microphone and speaker and a headphone jack.
Along with that, there will also be some optional acessories in the PS5 family, which you can buy separately. Like a controller charging stand, on which you can charge two controllers at a time, wireless gaming headset, HD Camera and a Media Remote. Talking about the specifications of PS5, the biggest game changers of this console are its new Solid State Drive, CPU, GPU and RAM.
Where there was a 500GB Hard Drive in PS4 last time, this time PS5 will come with a 825GB Solid State Drive. And not just that, this is an SSD NVMe Drive, which is better and faster than regular SSD Drives. The improvement that you will get by it is where PS4 Hard Disk offered 50-100 MB/s bandwidth, the SSD in PS5 will give more than 5 GB/s bandwidth. By which there will be a significant difference in load times.
For example PS4 could load 1 GB in 20 seconds. Where as PS5 will take 1/4th second to load 2 GB, that is 0.27s. And by putting this SSD PS5 will get a lot of performance gains. Talking about the CPU, there’s an AMD Ryzen based Octacore CPU in the PS5 in which there are 8 x 3.5GHz Zen 2 Cores. and moving on to the GPU, there’s a custom RDNA 2 GPU in the PlayStation 5 which runs at 10.28 Teraflops.
If we compare it to PS4, it’s GPU used to run at 1.84 Teraflops. This GPU, at this moment, is a cutting edge high performance GPU in the gaming world. You will still find this GPU rarely in gaming computers. With that, in the PS5, increased from previous generation’s 8GB, a 16GB DDR6 RAM is added this time.
Which will give PS5 a memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. But how would all these numbers affect your gaming experience? Let’s talk about that! With such powerful internals, a base for some ground breaking new features is introduced. There is an updated Geometry Engine in PS5. Which will add more details and better effects in the games. Alongwith this, PS5 will also support 8K gaming.
Few weeks ago, Epic Games showed in their Unreal Engine 5 demo, how much real the games would look in coming times. I mean, check out the details! This much detail is possible with the new PS5 Geometry Engine which supports more details, better effects, and a better texture. One of the big feature of PS5 is its Ray Tracing Technology. Which is quite famous in the gaming world these days.
Light rays are literally traced by the Ray Tracing Technology to give you more realistic reflected light, shadows and reflections. Obviously, that demands a very heavy computing power. And by that, you will feel realism in lighting and shadows in the upcoming games. Along with that, there is a new 3D sound engine in PS4 GPU, which will give you a sense, while playing, of the direction and distance of sounds generated. Again, this will highly improve the games realism and immersion. Along with it, another feature of PS5 is that it will be backwards compatible with PS4 games.
We have seen in the PS4, that PS3 games would not run on it. But this time, PlayStation 5 could run PS4 and PS4 Pro Games. Sony has told us that during the launch of PlayStation 5, the top 100 most played games of PlayStation 4, will be compatible with the PlayStation 5. Along with it, with the help of the external hard drive you can also play your PS4 games on your PlayStation 5.
So, now that we’ve talked about it’s design, specs and features. Let’s talk about the expected price of PlayStation 5. As for now, Sony hasn’t given any official confirmation regarding the price but as the leaks and rumors I have seen online I feel like PlayStation 5 will be $500 – $600. But price can be more than that.
As far as the availability in Pakistan is concerned, like I mentioned before, it will be launched in end 2020 somewhere between October and December. Usually, the products arrive in Pakistan 1-2 weeks after launching. But, as you know about the situation right now, there are restrictions on international travel I am hopeful that if things normalise by then, this console will arrive in Pakistan till end of December.
If we talk about the price in Pakistan, according to $600 the price tag must be around Rs.125,000 it could be more or less that that. We will find out when the time comes. Currently, I am very excited for PlayStation 5. I bought PlayStation 4 somewhat 7 years ago, and from then till now, I enjoy Playstation 4 quite a lot.
